County Schools Combined Events Championships
Wednesday 19th May at Par.
Sadly the weather wasn't very welcoming to this year's event but there was a large entry in most of the age groups sadly, some athletes were not able to compete as there was a clash with external exams.
In the Minor Girls Pentathlon there was a clear winner in Francesca Waters from Truro School (2080 points), second was Claudia Carlyon from Penrice School (1681 points) and in third place was Amy Bennalick from Callinton School (1627 points.)
In the Colts Penathlon again there was a clear winner in Jack Trewhella from Cape School (1275 points), second Ben Rogers from Penair School (960 points) and third Daniel Hubble Truro School (952points). With a problem in the high jump measurement their score was just a four event result.
In the Junior Boys Pentathlon another clear winner Ned Warne Truro (1904pts), second Kieran Rowe Penrice (1671 pys) and third Edward Holmes Cape Cornwall (1568pts).
The Junior Girls Pentathlon was probably the most competitive of the events with some fine performances. Jordanna Morrish Truro High was a deserving winner with 2741 points one of the highest in the UK at the moment. Second and third place were both from Truro High giving them a clean sweep. Second was Ellis-Jade Davey (2275pts) and third Milly Deacon (2237pts).
In the Inter age groups the full evets were not contested in one day so therefore constituted a Trials. In both events there were again winners well clear of their rivals.
In the Inter Girls Heptathlon first was Kiani Pay from Truro (2351pts), second Monica Lewis from Wadebridge (1814pts) and third Jenny Baker from Truro (1732pts).
In the Inter Boys Octathlon the winner was Harry Woodward from Wadebridge (3255pts), second Sam Chun also from Wadebridge (2447pts) and third Jonny Mailes Truro (2294pts).
Teams are in the process of being selected to represent the County at the South West Schools Combined Events Championships at Millfield School 26th/27th June.
