Impressive Performances.

In an unprecedented series of throws Intermediate boy Matt Halton ( Bodmin) rewrote the record books in the discus and shot at the County Schools Athletics Championships at Carn Brea on Saturday. Both events were new County records and National entry standards. In the shot his performance reinforces his position as no. 1 in the UK in his age group.

Equally impressive at the other end of the track Junior girl Jordanna Morrish ( Truro High) was setting a new County record in the high jump. This performance has now established Jordanna as no.1 in the UK in her age group. Earlier in the day Jordanna had won the sprint hurdles with an impressive time.

Two Senior boys Lee Hamilton (Wadebridge) and Jay Hill (St. Austell Coll) improved on their own County records in the 110 m hurdles and hammer respectively. Lee also won the 400m hurdles, both performances were National entry standard.

In the Intermediate girls Caroline Harvey (Fowey) improved the county hammer record and Anna Sharrock (Newquay Tretherras) set a record in the inaugural running of the Senior girls 1500m steeplechase.

Senior boy Jordan Henwood (Newquay Tretherras) - despite being injured - set a new County record in the pole vault and in their first ever entry in the Senior boys the squad from Truro College set a very fast County record in the relay.
Connor Robinson (Redruth) won the Inter boys 3000m with a national entry standard time as did Karis Harrington (Penrice) in the junior girls shot.

Nicola George (Newquay Tretherras) beats Katie Hewitt (Truro College) to win the Senior Girls' 400m final	A very close finish between Newquay Tretherras and Bolitho School in the Intermediate Girls' relay; Tretherras were declared the winners
