Field Records Fall
Field even athletes took centre-stage in the County Schools Athletic Championships at Par on Saturday with many of the Track events being hampered by a strong headwind in the home straight.
Despite a poor attendance, there were some excellent performances.

Jordanna Morrish jumps 1.73m which betters the National Standard by 10cm
Jordanna Morrish (Truro High) in the junior girls high jump underlined her number one UK positioning by increasing her county record to 1.73m. Matt Halton (Bodmin) continued where he left off last season by setting a new county record in the senior boys shot with 15.32 metres. Lamorna Newman (Helston) completed the new county records with a fine win in the intermediate girls triple jump with 10.76 metres. All these performances were national entry standards.

There were four other national entry performances: junior boy Jake Banevicius (Penryn) in the discus with 38.28 metres; junior girl Karis Harrington (Penrice) in the shot with 1.61 metres and our two international endurance runners – Annabel Gummow (Penair) in the intermediate girls 1500m with a time of 4m 45.9s and Conor Robinson (Redruth) in the intermediate boys 800m with 1m 59.0s. Both Annabel and Conor also have entry standard performances outside of school competitions in other distances.
